Hydrophobic filters are used to allow air to flow in and out of storage tanks. As tanks are emptied of liquid, clean air must be allowed to flow into the tank and when tanks are filled, air must be able to escape. The tank vent filter is designed to allow sufficient air flow to match the rate at which liquid is added or removed. By passing through a tank vent filter, such as the Graver TefTEC™ Series, the air is cleaned of dirt and microbial contaminants that could spoil the liquid in the tank.
Proper sizing of a tank vent filter is critical to preventing damage to the tank and there are many factors to consider. The attached Application Brief covers all the specifics to help with proper tank vent filter sizing.
